Research Data Analyst

The Population Council is an international, non-profit, non-governmental institution that seeks to improve the well-being arid reproductive health of current and future generations around the world and help achieve a humane, equitable and sustainable balance between people and resources. The Population Council has worked in collaboration with a very broad range of Nigerian institutions. The Council's program includes the design and testing of innovative HIV & AIDS and Reproductive Health approaches and policy and program relevant research, training, and institutional strengthening, and is supported by a range of donors. Due to expansion of its activities, the Council is seeking qualified individuals to fil! the following positions in its Abuja office:

Position: Research Data Analyst

The successful candidate will be responsible for Monitoring and Evaluation and Data Management of a comprehensive HIV Prevention and Care Project and other projects managed by PC. The officer will manage the database for capturing and processing the data collected through the management information systems of the project. He/she will set up the database for data entry of service data from the field. The officer will carry out the data processing and analysis and generate the statistical tables, charts and graphs for periodic project reports.

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate must have:

  • Level of Education - A minimum of Masters in Social Science, Statistics, Public Health or any related area
  • Desired Number of Years Prior Experience in a Similar Role - 5 years
  • Excellent Communication and Interpersonal Skill
  • Language Requirements - Excellent English language
  • Level of IT Expertise Required - Ability to use the following statistical packages - Epi Data, SPSS required
  • Ability to travel within and outside Nigeria
  • Strong analytic and database skills including statistical analysis
  • Experience in implementing management information systems and field research is an added advantage.

Operations Research Manager

Position: Operations Research Manager

The successful candidate will develop an Operations Research (OR) strategy for a comprehensive HIV Prevention and Care Project. He/she will lead in operations research conceptualization, research protocol preparation process, proposal defence presentations, research planning, implementation, analysis and reporting.

Qualifications:

The ideal Candidate must have:

  • Level of Education - Relevant degree(s) in Operations Research and Health Economics. An MPH gives an added advantage
  • Language Requirements - English Exemplary
  • Level of IT Expertise Required - excellent quantitative and computational skills
  • Firm written expression (scientific and commercial)
  • Willingness to travel within the country and across the region on a regular basis
  • Required previous experience - 5 years working in health related development programs.

Key Job Responsibilities:

Will work with Account Managers on project-related issues ensuring that clients' needs are met. Day-to-day involvement with research projects, including: drafting proposals, questionnaire design, liaison with senior team members on data analysis, interpretation and development of recommendations and preparation of presentation of findings.

Requirements:

 

  • University or College degree in Social Sciences/Marketing/Business/ Mathematics.
  • At least 2 years experience in client service or research aligned business.
  • Proven knowledge of market research.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent PowerPoint, Words and Excel Knowledge, Should have knowledge of SPSS.
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Commercial awareness.
  • Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.

Position: RESEARCH EXECUTIVE (QUALITATIVE) (Ref: RQL2)

Key Job Responsibilities:

Will work with Account Managers on project-related issues ensuring that the clients' needs are met. Day-to-day involvement with research projects, including: drafting proposals, designing topic/interview guides, conducting groups/in depth interviews and other qualitative fieldwork interpretation, report writing and development of recommendations as well as undertaking clients' presentations.

Requirements:
  • University or College degree in Social Sciences/Marketing/Business/English literature
  • At least 2 years experience in client service or research aligned business.
  • Proven knowledge of market research.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Excellent PowerPoint and Word Skills
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Commercial awareness. Excellent command of English, both written and verbal.

Position: FIELD PROJECT MANAGERS (Ref: FPM 3)

Person's Specification

 

  • The Field Project Manager's position is a middle level management position that requires the best fit candidate to have the following:
  • First Degree/HMD in Social Sciences/Management/Engineering/Planning
  • Post Graduate degree(MBA) would be an advantage
  • Project management experience is a requirement
  • Field management experience is an added advantage
  • Must have at least (3) three years post experience in either Project/Operations Management/Field Research
  • Mature with great organisational skills
  • Should have sound working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Project is an added advantage
  • Be personable with great initiative and high level integrity
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Can work with minimum supervision
Key Job Responsibilities:

 

  • Coordinate the spectrum of projects and reporting field matters
  • Plan and execute specific project timelines
  • Scheduling of tasks and routing of research instruments across the country
  • Collating and reporting of projects progress at their various life cycle stages
  • Analyze, track and evaluate project portfolios
  • Collate and write field technical reports on projects
  • Manage cost profile of projects and evaluate cost benefit analysis of the various projects
  • Develop and monitor project itinerary/schedules
  • Project appraisal and performance evaluation, and monitoring of field resources

Positions RQT 1 & RQL 2 are available only in Lagos while FPM 3 is available in Lagos, Ibadan, Benin, Port- Harcourt, Enugu, Jos, Abuja, Kaduna, Maiduguri and Kano.
